If your school-age child lives in and attends a school within Harbor Transit’s service area, they may be eligible for a Standing Order for rides to and/or from school.
Due to high demand and limited staff, Standing Order spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Standing Order forms for the 2021-2022 school year will be accepted beginning on Monday, July 26th at 9:00am. Once all of the spaces have been reserved, you can be placed on a waiting list if you wish to be notified when a space becomes available.
How to Create a Standing Order for Your Student for Transportation to/from School
Complete the Standing Order form
You can fill out the Standing Order form online, or download and print the Standing Order form. You can also pick up a paper copy of the form at Harbor Transit at 440 N Ferry Street in Grand Haven.
The online form will be available beginning on Monday, July 26th at 9am.
Submit Your Standing Order Form
If you completed your standing order form on our website, you will need to click the “Submit” button at the end of the form to submit the order.
If you completed a paper copy of the Standing Order form, you will need to drop it off at Harbor Transit at 440 N Ferry Street in Grand Haven during our service hours. Your form will be time stamped at the time of drop-off.
Receive a Notification
A Harbor Transit staff member will notify you that your Standing Order is confirmed. If there are no more spaces available to be reserved, a staff member will notify you and ask if you would like to be placed on the waiting list.

What if my Standing Order isn’t accepted due to limited reservations?
You will be notified if there are no more Standing Order spaces available to be reserved and given the option to be placed on the waiting list for school transportation.
Do I have to fill out a new Standing Order form for each school year?
Yes, even if none of the information on your form has changed, you will need to submit a NEW Standing Order form for each school year.
What if there are some days that my student won’t be riding with Harbor Transit?
If your student will not be riding the Harbor Transit bus, you will need to call us at 616-842-3200 to let us know at least 30 minutes before your student’s scheduled pick-up time. If you can let us know the day before, that’s even better! Please review the no-show/cancellation policy here.
Can the general public ride the same buses as students?
Yes. Because Harbor Transit is public transportation, there will be seats set aside for the general public on every bus transporting students.
